Engineered Construction Systems, Inc. is an award winning, multi-disciplined planning, design and engineering firm. We focus on design and planning, civil engineering, surveying, mapping, and specialized building design. All of these services are available in our Denver office.
Founded in 1980, Engineered Construction Systems is a privately-owned corporation. We have completed hundreds of projects and each year prepare designs for millions of dollars worth of construction. Throughout its history, ECSI has provided a broad spectrum of services to an ever-expanding marketplace and we enjoy working with our clients on a wide variety of projects. Our clients come from both the public and private sectors. They include city, state, and federal agencies, development companies, investment groups and individual landowners, banks, hospitals, insurance companies, and nonprofit institutions.
ECSI provides comprehensive services, and we are typically involved in survey and mapping, site planning, drainage, water and sewer system design, flood control programs, storm water permitting, and the preparation and processing of development applications. Projects include commercial developments, office and industrial parks, retail shopping centers, mixed-use development projects, academic and research institutions, and resort and recreation developments.

Value Engineering
Value Engineering (VE) is a systematic, functional, and creative analysis of a construction requirement to achieve the best functional combination of cost, reliability, and performance, over the life-cycle of products, systems, equipment, facilities, services, and supplies. VE is performed by Cecil Rickstrew and a team of employees whose discipline and expertise match that required by the construction project. This process includes the following five phases:
- Information Phase – The team gathers information about the program requirements, project design, background, constraints, and projected construction costs. The team performs functional analysis of systems and sub-systems to identify high cost areas.
- Speculative/Creative Phase – The team identifies alternatives for accomplishing the function of a system or sub-system.
- Evaluation/Analytical Phase – The team evaluates alternatives to determine those with the greatest potential for cost savings and project enhancement.
- Development/Recommendation Phase – The team researches the selected alternatives and ideas and prepares descriptions, sketches and life cycle cost estimates to support VE recommendations/proposals.
- Report Phase – The team presents VE recommendations and Design A-E orally and in writing. Engineered Construction Systems, Inc. is proud of our record of construction cost reductions and timely completions due to our true value engineering efforts. It would be misleading for us to quote the impressive figures for time and cost reductions due to our value analysis. We prefer to think of ourselves as part of your team who provides the necessary support so that the entire project team can achieve the project goals and objectives as they pertain to cost, time and quality.
Over the years, we have observed many expamples of "major cost and time reduction" building projects where very little emphasis was placed on quality, design, function and operating costs. We do not believe that only cost and schedule should be considered as a means to evaluate our effectiveness. The long term client satisfaction is of utmost importance. We would recommend you contact any of our past clients for an evaluation of our true value engineering analysis efforts and the quality of building we produce.
